Around the System - June 21

Triple-A: Scranton 4, Pawtucket 3
Justin Christian, the newest Yankee, made a good impression on his teammates when he drew a walk in the ninth and later scored the game-winning run when Fabio Castro uncorked a wild pitch. Christian was promoted from Trenton earlier in the day. Ivan Nova started for Scranton, and scattered five hits over 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and fanned seven. P.J. Pilittere and Reegie Corona each collected two hits in the win. Pilittere and Jorge Vazquez doubled, and Eduardo Nunez collected his second triple of the season.

Gulf Coast League: Yankees 10, Pirates 8
Prized Yankees catching prospect Gary Sanchez made his professional debut in a big way, by belting a grand slam in his second at-bat. Overall, the 17-year-old (!) was 2-for-4 with a run and four RBIs. Still, that's not even the most exciting news from this game. Manny Banuelos, sidelined all season with an appendectomy, made the start. He went 2 2/3 innings, allowed one earned run on no hits and a walk. He fanned two. Kelvin Duran and Jose Rosario also went deep.
