Postgame Notes: Game 109
Final score: Trenton 2, Altoona 1
Synopsis: A fantastic pitching matchup -- probably the best since Dellin Betances and Kyle Drabek in the 2010 playoffs -- more than lived up to its billing. Gerrit Cole and Brett Marshall each spun six fabulous innings before yielding to their respective bullpens. The only run allowed by either starter came on Oscar Tejeda's homer off of Marshall in the second inning -- "a sinker than ran into his bat," Marshall said.
Trenton tied the game off of Hunter Strickland's homer in the seventh on Zoilo Almonte's 13th jack of the season and J.R. Murphy's flyout. Kelvin Perez and Ryan Pope worked in and out of trouble over the last three innings to seal the win.
New Britain and Reading each won on Tuesday, so Trenton stays 6 games up for the division lead in the Eastern League East.
