Around the System Day 5

Triple-A: Scranton 6, Rochester 5
Juan Miranda hit a game-tying two-run home run in the ninth, and the Scranton Yankees came back on the Red Wings. Boone Logan, Mark Melancon and Jonathan Albaladejo gave S/W-B 5 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Greg Golson and Reegie Corona had two hits apiece. Box score.

Double-A: Akron 5, Trenton 1
D.J. Mitchell gave up eight hits in 3 2/3 innings as the Thunder lost their first game of the season. David Adams had three more hits, moving him to 11-for-20 on the young season. John Van Benschoten gave the team 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in his Trenton debut. Box score.

High-A: Clearwater 4, Tampa 3
Three unearned runs doomed the T-Yanks against the Threshers. Otherwise, starter Jairo Heredia was excellent, allowing just an earned run over four innings. Brandon Braboy threw in 3 1/3 of scoreless baseball. Abraham Almonte, Jose Pirela and Mitch Abeita each had two hits. Box score.

Low-A: West Virginia 6, Charleston 5
Ryan Acosta's meltdown spoiled Kelvin Perez's gem. Perez, listed at a slight 6-foot-1 and 140 pounds, gave up just one earned over 6 2/3 innings. Jimmy Paredes had three hits -- including a homer -- in the loss. Taylor Grote, Ray Kruml and Rob Lyerly each had a double. Box score.
