Around the Yankee System
Here's something new I'm going to try. Every morning, I will find the results of each team in the Yankees' minor league system. I'll post the score, a short synopsis and a link to the box score. That said, here goes:
Triple-A: Scranton 1, Buffalo 0
David Winfree's home run in fourth inning was the Yankees needed. Ivan Nova, Mark Melancon, Boone Logan and Jonathan Albaladejo blanked the Bisons on five hits and fanned 11 in the process. Jesus Montero had a double. Box score.
Double-A: Trenton 4, Erie 0
If you read this blog at all, then you know the story. The Thunder got their first Opening Day win since 2004, but Christian Garcia got hurt in the process. Austin Krum, Austin Romine, Dan Brewer and Reid Gorecki had an RBI apiece in the win. Box score.
High-A: Tampa 4, Lakeland 0
Hector Noesi (you might see him in Trenton this year) pitched six innings of two-hit, six strikeout baseball. Brandon Braboy pitched the final three innings for the save. Jose Pirela drove in a pair of runs, stole a base and was a longball shy of the cycle. Abraham Almonte and Corban Joseph also had RBIs. Box score.
Low-A: Charleston 5, Lexington 2
Shaeffer Hall went six solid innings before handing the ball to relievers Ronny Marte, Francisco Rondon and Ryan Flannery. Marte allowed a pair of runs in an inning's work but came away with win. Third baseman Rob Lyerly had three hits and three RBIs in the win. Taylor Grote also had a pair of singles and an RBI. Box score.
Nice day for the Yankees farmhands, allowing a total of two runs in four games.
