Left out: After last night's loss to Akron and T.J. House, Trenton is 0-4 against southpaws at Waterfront Park and 3-6 against them overall. That said, tonight's lineup features a few players who have hit well against lefties this season, albeit in small samples.
Jose Gil: .350/.364/.600
Cody Johnson: .276/.300/.483
Corban Joseph: .417/.417/.750
Kevin Mahoney: .375/.474/.438
Addison Maruszak: .389/.421/.556
Four of the team's five homers against lefties have come from that quartet. The other longball came from Luke Murton, who has 7 hits in 29 trips against lefties this year.
On the other hand, David Adams, Abe Almonte and Zoilo Almonte, who's back after an extended absence, are a combined 7 for 54 against them.
Welcome back: Adam Miller, a former first-rounder of the Cleveland Indians way back in 2006, will start for Trenton this evening. He's missed a lot of time in his career due to injuries, including soreness in his shoulder and elbow, and four surgeries on his right middle finger.
He pitched twice against the Thunder last year, once at Canal Park and once at Waterfront.
Oh hey, Jose: Jose Pirela, out since April 12 with concussion-like symptoms is back with the team today.
