Tampa sends Trenton a catcher ... just not *that* catcher

After watching Altoona go 11 for 11 against them in their most recent series, the Thunder needed a catcher. And given that it's prospect promotion season, just about everybody expected Gary Sanchez to move up to Trenton for the remainder of the season.

Instead, the Yankees chose to hold back Sanchez for the time being and instead send Francisco Arcia to Double-A. After a boffo 2011, Arcia has stalled in High-A. The 23-year-old backstop is hitting .233/.317/.318 with two homers and 12 RBIs for the T-Yanks. He's caught just 24 percent of runners trying to steal.

To make room, Tyson Blaser was sent back to Tampa. He started the season on the Thunder's DL and had 3 hits in 15 trips.

Trenton also sent lefty reliever Francisco Rondon to Triple-A Scranton. After coming back from DFA limbo, Rondon has been gangbusters. The former 40-man member has a 1.54 ERA since being outrighted to Trenton. He has 15 strikeouts -- but nine walks -- in 11 2/3 innings.
