Around the Yankees System Day 2

Here's day 2 of my trip around New York's minor league teams. This time around, the Baby Bombers did not fare nearly as well.

Triple-A: Buffalo 7, Scranton 6
Zach McAllister dealt with shaky control, but left with a lead anyway. The former Thunder ace allowed three hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings. He also struck out half a dozen men. Kevin Russo and Colin Curtis each had a pair of hits in the loss. Jesus Montero went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Box score.

Double-A: Trenton 3, Erie 1
Mike Ashmore has the stories in the paper that detail the win. For those who need the Cliffs notes, however, Ryan Pope tossed five innings of one-run ball and fanned seven in the process. Brandon Laird's two-run triple in the sixth was the difference. Lance Pendleton got the win in relief. Box score.

High-A: Lakeland 6, Tampa 0
Andrew Brackman did not walk a batter, but that's where the positives end. He allowed six runs on six hits in four innings while striking out five. His ERA now stands at a cool 11.25. Trenton Lare fanned four in two innings. Corban Joseph and Abraham Almonte each had two hits, including a double for both. Jose Pirela added a two-bagger of his own. Box score.

Low-A: Lexington 7, Charleston 2
Graham Stoneburner gave up three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings and struck out seven. Ben Watkins was no better, allowing three more runs over two innings. Kyle Higashioka, Taylor Grote and Kelvin Castro each had a double, and DeAngelo Mack added a triple. Zolio Almonte had a pair of singles in the loss. Box score.
