Brandon Laird is the Eastern League's Player of the Month
After putting together one of the best offensive shows in recent memory, Thunder third baseman Brandon Laird got some recognition for his accomplishments. The EL media voted him the circuit's Player of the Month for May. As I documented earlier in this post, Laird was among the circuit's top ten in a variety of offensive categories, including:
- 6th in AVG(.339)
- 1st in RBIs (33)
- 8th in HRs (6)
- 6th in OPS (.965)
- 4th in SLG (.591)
- 9th in 2B (9)
- T2nd in XBH (16)
- 3rd in H (39)
He also hit for the cycle on May 26, completing the feat with a walk-off home run against the Erie SeaWolves, a feat that was last accomplished on June 28, 1984 by Dwight Evans.
