Jesus Montero was 3-for-5 with two runs, and the Yankees were able to blank the Red Wings. With the effort, Montero upped his average to .243. Justin Christian, Reid Gorecki, Jorge Vazquez, Reegie Corona and Eric Bruntlett each pounded out two hits. Bruntlett (solo) and Gorecki (three-run) each went deep. Bruntlett, Vazquez and Gorecki each scored twice. Romulo Sanchez lasted seven innings and held Rochester to a hit and a walk. He fanned eight.

Andrew Brackman made his Double-A debut -- and earned his first loss at the level. The right-hander allowed eight hits and two earned runs over five innings. He fanned five and walked one before giving way to Cory Arbiso. Brandon Laird connected on his 19th longball of the year, collecting his 77th RBI in the process. Marcos Vechionacci was 2-for-4.

George Kontos continued his rehab, tossing three shutout innings against the Threshers on Friday evening. Noel Castillo and the bullpen, however, couldn't make a 1-0 lead stand up. Castillo and J.B. Cox allowed five runs over the final two innings. Ray Kruml, Zoilo Almonte and Trent Lockwood each collected two hits in the loss.

Kyle Higashioka's longball was the only offense the RiverDogs got during their loss to the Drive on Friday. Kelvin Castro also collected two hits. J.R. Murphy, Neil Medchill and DeAngelo Mack collected the remainder of Charleston's hits. Josh Romanski started and allowed one earned run over 5 1/3 frames while striking out eight.

Mikey O'Brien dominated over six innings, and the Yankees were able to get past the IronBirds. O'Brien allowed just the one run on seven hits while fanning four and walking none. Nathan Forer and Preston Whitley worked the final three innings. Michael Ferraro was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Isaiah Brown went 2-for-4.
