Jason Adam and my first trip to Wilmington

After watching Jose Fernandez last night, I got up absurdly early this morning and drove to Wilmington to watch another boffo pitching prospect, the Royals' Jason Adam. While he wasn't as electric as Fernandez, Adam was damn good. 

He allowed one run over 7 2/3 innings and really pitched much better than that. If his defense had made plays behind him he could conceivably have gone a full nine. Adam, a big, strong right-hander, threw a mid-90s fastball, a beautiful breaking ball and a pretty darn nice change-up. That's three really good pitches and yet another good arm in Kansas City's system. 

As an aside, I also had the pleasure of meeting Baseball Prospectus' Jason Parks at the game. It sounds like I'll see him a couple of more times this year, particularly when Myrtle Beach comes to Wilmington later in the year.
