Medchill coming to Trenton
As I reported last night (with a little help from @AndyInSunnyDB), outfielder Neil Medchill has been promoted to Double-A. Medchill, in 11 games with High-A Tampa, was hitting .316/.372/.579 with two doubles, a triple and two longballs.
Medchill joins a cast of players who joined the team while it was on its recently culminated seven-game swing. Others include Francisco Rondon, Luke Murton and Kevin Mahoney, who were sent up to help plug the holes left by Rob Lyerly, David Adams, Graham Stoneburner, Gustavo Molina and Jose Pirela.
Because their roster is one short of the 25-man max, the Thunder don't necessarily need to make a move. That said, if they were to do so, the obvious choice would be Cody Johnson, who is flat-out mashing (.343/.410/.714) in his return engagement with the Trenton.
I'm headed to the ballpark now (from Baltimore), so there will be plenty to let you know about once I get there, including the return of Christian Garcia, whom the Nationals signed last year and is currently pitching with Harrisburg. I'm really excited to see him pitch again.
