Around the System - June 7

Triple-A: Gwinnett 4, Scranton 2
Dustin Moseley allowed 10 hits and four runs over 6 2/3 innings -- solid but not spectacular -- and the Yankees fell to the Braves. Royce Ring went the rest of the way. Former Thunder pitcher Mike Dunn closed things out for Gwinnett. Reid Gorecki, Chad Huffman, Matt Cusick and Greg Golson each had two hits. Reegie Corona, Gorecki and Cusick each doubled in the loss.

Double-A: OFF High-A: Jupiter 5, Tampa 4
Melky Mesa's grand slam accounted for all of Tampa's scoring, and Andrew Brackman allowed three runs over six innings (all of which came in the second inning). Tim Norton, Pat Venditte and Adam Olbrychowski went the rest of the way. The T-Yanks had five hits, two of which came from Jose Pirela.

Low-A: Rome 4, Charleston 3

Former Yankees farmhand Arodys Vizcaino outdueled Sean Black, and the RiverDogs fell. Vizcaino allowed three hits over five innings, with seven strikeouts mixed in. Zoilo Almonte and Slade Heathcott each had two hits; Heathcott is now hitting .346. One of Almonte's hits was a longball, and one of Heathcott's was a triple.

Dominican Summer League 2: Red Sox 4, Yankees 3
Gian Arias and Melvin Aquino had two hits apiece, but the Yankees couldn't get past the DSL Red Sox. Arias also had an RBI, as did Jose Javier. Reynaldo Polanco started and went two scoreless innings.

Dominican Summer League 1: Mets 8, Yankees 7
Jorge Alcantara homered twice, and Damian Taveras and Daniel Lopez also added a longball each. Alcantara also added a triple. Yeicok Calderon had a double. Despite that outburst, Alcantara was held to just two RBIs.
